American Planning Association California Announces 2009 Board Officers
(January 7, 2009) SACRAMENTO The American Planning Association California (APA California) elected its 2009 Board of Directors, selected from within its network of nearly 6,500 professional planners, citizens and elected officials statewide. Board officers will lead the trade association in its mission to make great communities happen through good planning.
Our newly elected officers and continuing board members represent the breadth and geographic diversity of planning in California, said the new APA California President, Kurt Christiansen, AICP. As the source for smart planning in California, were committed to providing the vision and leadership that foster better planning and create livable California communities with choices for all residents.
APA California, the largest of 47 American Planning Association chapters nationwide, is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Elected officers and appointed officers for 2009 include:
- President Kurt Christiansen, Director of Economic and Community Development for the City of Azusa
- Vice President, Policy & Legislation Pete Parkinson, Director of the Sonoma County Permit and Resource Management Department
- Vice President, Public Information Lance Schulte, Senior Community Planner for HDR
- Vice President, Professional Development Carol Barrett, Planning Manager for the City of San Gabriel
- Vice President, Administration Hing Wong, Senior Regional Planner for the Association of Bay Area Governments
- Student Representative Ryan Brough, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
- Past President Vince Bertoni, Director of Community Development for the City of Los Angeles
- California Planning Foundation President Alex Hinds, Former Director of the Marin County Community Development Agency
- Planning Commission Representative Mike Notestine, Planning Commissioner for the City of Sacramento
