This day-long conference brings together in an interactive and educational workshop format, cutting-edge theory, research, and professional practice from the fields of public health and city planning.  Hear directly from Dr. Duhl, the nation's premier leader in health and planning, and from Dr. Iton, Alameda County's current Public Health Director, as they address the context of the many, often parallel and ongoing East Bay health and planning initiatives.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how these efforts can work better together under a shared policy framework of comprehensive healthy city planning.

The event is co-sponsored by Merritt College's David R. Brower-Ronald V. Dellums Institute for Sustainable Policy Studies , APA Calfornia - Northern, Bay Area Social Equity Caucus, and the Alameda County Public Health Department, and is held in conjunction with the Merritt College's "Healthy Cities and Community Systems" class.  A four-week intensive course is also available for those interested in exploring planning work for healthy cities in more depth.
